Kona Update

December 31, 2007

Kona is a doll! Max and Mark fight over her attention! She rides well and loves Dutch Brothers and taking Max to school. She has a loving and a person focused personality and fits our family perfectly. Mark never thought he would be so in love with a dog; let alone a Labradoodle and he is smitten! He takes her everywhere. Max also tells me that Kona is a “chick magnet”. Boys!! She is 17 pounds now and has the most wonderful soft coat that does not shed! I love the feel of it and friends and family always comment on it. She has such a Diva personality sprinkled with a bit of attitude, and mixed with an eager to please and be with you personality.

She did great on our recent road trip to see family; road perfectly. She played in the snow with cousins, visited our Grandmother with good manners, and met Aunt, Uncle and cats with equal ease (well, there was some of wanting to play with the cats…). We have some great pictures we will be sending you of her “snow days”. She made all kinds of friends with other canines and I don’t think there is a person we visited with that did not fall in love; we have been telling everyone about your site and have been handing our you business cards.

We compromised with sleeping arrangements and she sleeps with Max in his room in her crate. I am sure that Max is sneaking her into bed with him at night but I am practicing the blind eye where the love between a boy and his dog is concerned. She has her own drawer in the kitchen, her own area for all (and I do mean tons!) of toys. Thanks for the book recommendation. The dog classes start at the beginning of the new year. The trainer of the class has already met with Kona and is impressed with how smart she is! We are looking forward to it all. Thank you for the most wonderful new family member we have ever had Jeff and Vicky! We love her more than we could have ever anticipated. Happy Holidays!

“Latte-gram” from Early December

December 31, 2007

Hello Vicky;

Here is an update on Latte: We graduated from Perfect Puppy Academy with flying colors and got a diploma. The graduation procession to  “Pomp and Circumstance” was a hoot. We continue to use a puppy trainer every couple of weeks but it is mostly to train Jim and Susan. We had her washed and slightly trimmed at a poofy dog spa and even though I gave them the instructions, they made her face look like a Poodle!  Susan and I were heart-broken because she was so much cuter before but couldn’t let on because she is so intuitive. She is currently teething and doing well with it.  She is very verbal and we all talk to each other a lot.  If the door to the back yard is closed, she will come get me if she needs to go out.xxxxWe both love this dog dearly and will always appreciate what a thorough and professional breeder you are. Best regards,
Jim & Susan

6 Month Old Nikky Update

December 31, 2007

Hi Vicky,

Hope you had a great Christmas holiday.  Ours was quiet, except that we spent one whole hour at Dog Park instead of our usual 30 minutes!  There were about 15 dogs there, including 2 Great Danes about 1 year old – galloping around and Nikky running right beside the Danes.  His favorite is a cow dog of some mixed kind who is very often there.  Also a poodle and another Labradoodle.

We’re enrolled in our second class at dog school, and learning lots of things like “stand” and ”wait” added to the stays, sits, and come. I imagine we’ll be in class through the winter as he responds well - and I learn a lot.

Nikky has had one ear problem, but went to vet right away and got ear drops.  Also use a ear-wipe type cloth to clean his ears about every day.  I’ve been looking for the ear drop recipe you sent even before Snickerdoodle came to me and can’t find it…if you have it available, will you send it again.

He loves fetching his toys after I throw them, and he has some favorites, including a bear dressed in a San Francisco 49 er cheerleader costume…it USED to have pom poms, but not any more….. Tearing up paper is a favorite past time, and hole digging progresses when I’m not paying enough attention!  He has recently delighted himself by pulling down the covers on the bed:  he stands one the bedspread facing the head of the bed and jumps toward the head with his forefeet out.  Then he pulls back his forefeet and does it again and again until he can undress the bed!

As active as he is, he is most cuddly early in the morning (6:30 a.m.) when we are about to get up.  He still eats a mixture of dry and wet food brekky, and only dry food the rest of the day.  He does still get up once at night to go out, but I suspect it’s because I do, so he waits for me and then I accompany him to the back yard.

Anyway, we’re as happy as can be, and loving to hear from you.

Love

Barbara

Getting Ready to greet the New Year…

December 27, 2007

Happy Holidays! I will be updating the webpage this next week as we get ready for the new year.

We are excited and pleased to announce Liberty’s Belle and Primetime’s Quincy have successfully tied the knot(s). This will be Belle’s only litter of this year and we have 4 spots available at this time. She is due at the very end of January. We expect shades of reds, crèmes and mismarks from this litter which will be multi-generational Australian Labradoodles; large minis to small mediums.

Liberty’s Chase has developed into a stunning male and we are taking him in for his initial hip testing this next week. Chase is from our Liberty and ALUSA Maestro and is available for sell, trade or breeding (pending hip scores). We would keep him from our program, but we are all related! Watch for pictures and details of Liberty’s Chase coming soon. He is PRA clear, VWD clear, red with white mismarks, soft fleece coat with a gentle, loving disposition. He is a bit of a clown and is crate trained, house trained and has some basic commands down.

Cinnamon (Cinnie) is with a lovely family and thriving. She has fit in as a member of the family and has a girl of her very own. Muse is at home with a retired school administrator and elementary principal and has her own mini goldendoodle to play with. Kona loves her boy and family at the Oregon Coast. They recently remodeled their house so she can have her own romp room. She escorts her boy to sporting events and has become an unofficial mascot of the girls volleyball team. Latte has been working on her doggie basics and is reported to have fit in well with her family.

Thanks for all the kinds words and warm wishes this holiday season; may God hold you all in the palm of his hand~

Vicky
