The “happy 3 month birthday” update on Jake

April 22, 2008

Well, Grandma Vicky, Here are your boys! Jake is wonderful…. and huge at only 12 weeks, adds Mary. LOL! Mary just went off to weigh him……”11.5 pounds”, she says “and He doesn’t even fit into his paws”! What is the opposite of runt of the litter?  I think we got him! LOL

He is just perfect for, and loved by all of us. Jeff could not have gotten it more right…..”Peas and Carrots”!  These guys are playing continuously.  Then they collapse. It is so good to see Ted tired from playing. My neighbor even noticed it. She said she has never seen Ted so calm!  I told her it was because he is exhausted from playing!

Zoe Rai Update…

April 22, 2008

Vicky, Jeff -

Hope all is well!  I’ve been meaning to send you an email this past week and this is the first opportunity I have had.  Zoe is doing wonderful!  She is such a GREAT dog!  She had adjusted extremely well to her new home here in Michigan.  She loves her backyard so much that she rarely wants to ‘use’ the bathroom in the field outback…I guess that is a good thing.

Her potty training is coming along too.  She’s had a few mishaps…not much though!  She has caught on rather quickly! I have been working with her on the ’sit’, ’stay’, ‘down’, ‘off’ and ‘leave it’ commands…again, she is a smart little whipper-snapper!  She has them almost mastered!

To show you how spoiled she is, I have attached a few more pictures.  My co-workers surprised me last Monday (my first 1/2 day back into the office) with a large basket filled with puppy toys!  She is WELL LOVED!  AND SPOILED!!!!!!!!!!!  :) She is going back to the vet this coming Friday for her third round of shots.  Targeting her spay to be early June as the vet said to give her a little more time to just get acclimated to her new surroundings before stressing her with surgery.  I agreed!

Oh yeah, last night was the first night she slept in bed!  She has been doing great in her crate at night…although the past three nights she would wake me up at 1:30 and 3:30 to go pee…although, I think she just wanted ‘reassurance’ and/or a little attention.  Last night she curled right next to me and slept all night without a problem.  She woke up at 5:15am to go outside, eat, play for 45 minutes…then she was down for a nap! More to come!  Hope you enjoy the pictures!  :)

Teddy, Jake’s older brother wants to be best man

April 12, 2008

Here is Ted with a poodle cut getting ready to “put on the Ritz”. J He sent a funny email to Chief, who is standing at Stud the last two weeks and was wondering if he tied the knot. J He is ready to stand as best man.

Thanks for the wonderful laughs while reading the email and showing what he might wear at the wedding. I like the red bow.

Xx Vicky

Jakes Update…

April 12, 2008

The following is an excerpt of an email sent to both Chloe’s Mom and I from Jake’s family. I get great updates but this is my most recent one that I wanted to share. Enjoy!

I was chasing Jake around the house with the UDOG until I read that Chloe went outside.  I took my boy outside and he immediately peed. HAPPY DAYS!  He went to the door a few hours later and was whining.  I thought, “No way”.  Sure enough, as soon as he hit the ground he ran to the lawn and squatted.  He poos out their, too! I find that amazing! I never did a thing.  I told Jake he was a good boy and Ted ran to Jake and peed. Yes Ted, you are a good boy, too! They admired each others accomplishments and ran back in the house to continue bonding. The picture of Jake with his ears suspended in the air and Ted in hot pursuit is another “bonding” activity, as is chewing on the same ligament, at the same time, in the same place (we have four of these 2 foot long tasty delights).  I stay fairly close, as you can see, to remind them that sharing does not mean 2 inches for you and 22 inches for me!  The “brat dog” with his tongue out was actually taken when I had the camera on continuous mode and Jakey yawned! Jake is growing so fast.  He weighed 8 lbs. 15 ozs. on Friday (one week ago today) at the vet. He was shy two days of being ten weeks old. Ted weighed 8 lbs. 11ozs. At 12 weeks. Jake is “running” up and down stairs for a week now.  Ted took several days to master the stairs.

Mary’s off work today and is sitting in the floor with T and J saying “sit”. I looked and Jake stood up when Mary said “sit”.  He thought a second and then sat.  Of course Ted was SITTING also. Jake knows I’m mom and runs to me when he is scared, wants food, loves or I enter the room. He loves playing with Ted! How are Chloe and Casey doing together?  It sounded like Casey was warming up to Chloe.  Do they play with each other? How big is Chloe?  Is she a good eater? Is Chloe still on the quieter side (?) versus Jake, who sounds like a herd of stampeding horses as he enters the room!
…Oh geese, I just had to take Jake out of his water bowl!  This is the third time I found him splashing in his water bowl LOL. Ted never did that.  Jake is so cute!

…Take care everyone.  I hope all is going well and I’m looking forward to hearing more stories and seeing more pictures, xx!

April 12, 2008

Dear Grandma,

Mommy would love for you to use the pictures she sent you.  Mommy also had me attach more for you! Just to let you know, Mommy took me to the vet today to get a ‘check-up’.  I like my vet…she is nice and gave me a treat!  I need to go back in about 2-3 weeks for my third set of shots! Ok, Mommy said she will give you a call soon!

Love you Grandma,

Zoe!

Zoe Rai and her forever home…

April 12, 2008

Hey “Aunt Vicky” and “Uncle Jeff” – I’m really enjoying my time in my new home!  Mommy and I have been playing quite a bit!  I was a good girl last night and went to bed at 11pm and slept until 4am!  Mommy got up and took me outside to do my ‘business’.  We then ate, played and took a 2 hour nap next to the fireplace (Mommy likes to turn the fireplace on when it’s a little chilly out)…I liked it too!  I snuggled right up next to her…it felt so good!

She then took me out to my new backyard.  I LOVE my backyard!  We played, walked around the yard, etc.  Mommy then ran up to the store…I stayed in my new crate.  She gave me my Kong toy with just a tad bit of peanut butter in it.  I was so good I didn’t mind being in my crate.  I didn’t even cry (I knew mommy was listening through the door to see if I was going to cry; but I didn’t)!

Mommy and I then cuddled again for another 1.5 hours before dinner…I LOVE cuddling with Mommy.  Now we are playing again!  Here are some pictures that Mommy took of me last night and today!  I’ll write later!

Love you,
