Chief’s long distance “romance” is confirmed..

December 30, 2008

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Cameo Rose of Windsor Creek Labradoodles and Chief have a planned long distance romance(God Bless the UPS for special delivery J ) . Sidenote: Can’t you hear the song “signed, sealed, delivered.. I’m yours playing in the background? ….No? How about some Rod Stewart… “Tonight’s the night… “???) ? Hum…maybe you need to adjust the sound in your computer? :)

Depending on Mother Nature the puppies should be created sometime in late February. Together along with both our reproduction specialists, Chief will be visiting her by test tube  for a “Cameo” appearance. She is the first in the three studdings we are allowing for 2009. They should make wonderful puppies together! I am so excited!

Watch for more information on our page about their future litter together..Windsor Creek and Liberty Labradoodles are anticipating something magical for their first litter.  So, my dears.. join with me in a toast.. Here is to the new years, the first litter and as always….

May God Bless you, your family and watch over your puppies always.

One Last Time… final offer for Echo to the Obama Family…

December 29, 2008

12/29/2008

Dear President Elect Obama Family;

First, Aloha! I hear from Sue, Henna’s mom (Henna is Echo’s sister and is going to live on the islands along with her other brother, Casey) you are on the islands. I hope you all have a restful holiday as you prepare for the adventure of a lifetime despite the electricity outage. I fear time is running out! Echo is due to go another home in the Netherlands, but earlier I offered her to your family if you wished. I know she will go “where she is meant to be” but I thought I would offer her to your family one more time in a much more public way. I think she was meant to be yours. Why she is meant to be yours?

First, Her official name is Liberty’s Echo of a Graceful Chief. She was named prior to the presidential run and your statement of a puppy for the girls… how perfect is that name for your family pet? Other than having family also on the islands, She is a Multi gen Australian Labradoodle from Kizer’s Grace and Liberty’s Chief. As you know, some say the Labradoodle is a Mutt, but I counter with the most magnificent mutt breed there is. And our puppies continue to prove me right. I hope you prove us right as well.

Second, She is great with kids being raised in a home with three children so she is thoroughly socialized and not a “kennel raised” puppy. She has had all her shots and is from great family lines (gold paw lineage), and is very sweet, playful, loving, loyal, and of course intelligent. She does not shed. The girls will love her. She is a quick study. She is trained to use the doggie door. In terms of temperament I doubt she would bite a reporter, unless you would like us to train her to do so. She would probably climb in the lap or lick their face. She might chew up Barbie’s, so tell the girls they will have to keep their room clean (another one of my puppy owner girls, Bailee said I should mention that since it happened to her Barbie).

Third, She is very unusual in her markings, which makes her perfect for our new first family. She is a mismark, the best of two worlds. My other puppy owners think she would be great for your family as well and have offered to write reference letters. She starts basic puppy training next week while we wait for her final testing before leaving us. Her new owners know I offered her to you through a couple of contacts here in Oregon but I have not heard anything from you. I am afraid this is my last attempt as time is running out.

Fourth, We have donated a puppy to operation second chance, a non profit organization that helps injured soldiers and their families at Walter Reed. We proudly support our military and their families that make such great sacrifices. From this, we have found that our puppies have made great therapy pets, including working with shut ins, autistic kids, and those with injuries. We get constant praise on their personality, health, intelligence, and companionship.

Finally, She comes from Liberty. We named our kennel Liberty Labradoodles as Liberty was born Sept. 11th and my son joined the service soon after. As the parents of a twice deployed soldier who through extension and other events has spent three of the last four years in the sand box. Freedom is not free, and your family will have some Liberty taken away on this venture.  We offer her as a thank you for your family sacrifices. I know she will bring joy and love when things get tough. Yes, She Can!

We would ask you to not mention us and would keep it to our selves. It would be our honor of you being one of our puppy owners and knowing she would make a wonderful companion for your family. With utmost respect we say, you wanna Doodle?  We have one of the greatest waiting for you.

Sincerely;

~Jeff and Vicky (and Echo)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

December 29, 2008

Happy Holidays! We were snowed in for several days and entertained our sister for the holidays. Thank you for the warm wishes sent and the pictures of your doodle Christmas!

Now that the snow is melting Jeff and I are preparing for Liberty’s whelp which should be around January 5th. She is not very big but definitely pregnant. This will be her last and her first with Chief.

We have decided to wait on Belle & Chief litter until June.

Echo had her breeder testing done, and unless Obama’s family acts soon she will fly off to the Netherlands in January and go to Salem with Kenneth.

Bonnie was also busy over this holiday season; as she waits for a puppy from Grace and Chief. She did an art quilt of Belle that I have also added to the photo gallery.

Blossom (renamed Daisy) sent us pictures, one that I scanned and added to the site, along with Leo’s first snow day. Very fun to watch them all grow, thank you!

Henna is developing nicely as is Casey (both heading to Hawaii). I have some great photos of the dogs in the snow on the photo gallery pages with more coming. I hear that Hawaii was without electricity, but the Obama family were provided some generators to get through.

Until then, I will be working on redoing our website as we prepare for the new year. Jeff is working on setting up the whelp area as I type as Libby is starting her nesting routine of digging at blankets. She is watching the going ons right now from her crate and wants to check it all out.

As we were deep in snow and on food overload from the holidays, I tried out a crock pot recipe that was very yummy! Here is the recipe if you would like to try it:

Beer and Cheese Potato Chowder

prep time 20 minutes; crock pot 6-8 hours on low

6 medium russet potatoes; peeled, chopped (6 cups)

1 medium onion; chopped (1/2 cup)

1 stalk of celery, chopped (I did not have one)

1 medium carrot, finely chopped (again, I did not have one)

garlic clove, minced (I had added some garlic freeze dried)

shake of pepper

shake of salt

1 -14 ounce can chicken broth

1 -12 oz can of beer, (I added a dark beer)

2 Cups of shredded cheddar and American cheese blend

1/2 cup whipping cream

rye bread, cut into cubes, tasted if desired

in 3 to 4 qt. slow cooker, combine potatoes, onion, celery, carrot, garlic and seasonings. Stir gently to mix. Pour broth and beer over vegetables. Cover; cook on low setting for 6 to 8 hours.

About 10 minutes before serving, coarsely mash vegetables with potato masher or fork. Add cheese and whipping cream; stir until cheese is melted. Cover and cook an additional 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Top with croutons.

makes 5 1 1/2 cup servings.

great the next day. :)

Best in Snow!

December 23, 2008

Well, doodles and snow go together like peas and carrots! I swear they are like kids and when they get out it is very hard to get them back into the house; especially Chief and Henna! They roll in it, bury their faces in it and run and jump and frolic. When they finally come in I have oodles of wet doodles to contend with. They are such funny spirits!

We had Henna groomed shorter to see the color coming in. She is really looking like Chief, but smaller in size. Henna is with us for a while as she goes through health testing to head to Hawaii. Echo is coming in darker as well and she and Henna play with each other constantly. Their new favorite toy is the rope. We wait for the testing to come in the mail to finalize Echo’s trip to the Netherlands.

Libby is getting bigger and we wonder how many puppies are in there? She is starting to move slower and is not enjoying the snow as much as the others, but watching from the doorway.

Bear with us if you don’t get email responses back right away. The electricity has been going up and down and as the ice comes we hear there will be more electric outages. Snuggle in, cuddle with a doodle, and have the most blessed Christmas and new years!

It’s Leo!!!

December 23, 2008

Hi Vicky,

How are you?  Getting ready for the holidays?  I am not as ready as I should be….Leo will be having his first Christmas at Grandma’s house (his other Grandma…). xxxxxx- I wanted to send a new picture, and he was going for another check-up/puppy shot yesterday, so I figured I would update then -He is awesome – he’s the best puppy still.  He is a happy, healthy whopping 18 lbs!  He is going to puppy kindergarten and is the best behaved, cutest, calmest, one there.  He is so smart and does everything almost perfectly (and then he comes home and does whatever he wants, he’s a stinker too!)

He has almost no accidents in the house – he has only done #2 inside twice since being here (once when I wasn’t home).  Although he does tell us when he has to go, it’s not exactly how I would have picked (he barks, in my face, and he has the LOUDEST bark for a puppy).  But that’s okay – he is telling us anyway -

I could go on and on about all the things he does, but that would take too much space – the kids love him to pieces – my daughter thanks me every day for “picking out the best puppy ever!”

I’ve attached a video of him and D playing fetch in the yard – xxxxx

We also had a big storm yesterday, his first real snow day (unless it snowed in Oregon in November?) and he LOVES the snow (although he couldn’t figure out how to “go” in it at first)  Have a picture of that also. It did dust a little on the fetch day, and he was fascinated then, but it was not much to play in.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday and the New Year brings you peace and happiness. And lots of cute puppies!  Oh, how’s Libby?  Is she having more?

Be well,

xxxx (aka Leo’s Mom)

Belle in fabric…

December 23, 2008

Ah….

A fabric artist is on Belle and Chief’s wait list for a doodle… She emailed me a block she did of Belle from the website. I just had to share, it is wonderful! She caught her spirit along with the doodle “trademark” tongue in the portrait that she was “just doodling with”.. J

Thanks Bonnie!

Oh Goodie! A Roxie Update!

December 10, 2008

Hi Vicky,

My how times flies when you have a new baby in the house.

We have been having so much fun with Roxy! She is a perfect little doodle! We are constantly amazed at how easily she learns new things. She is 99% potty trained, and rings the pouchie bells when she needs to go out or come back in (I put them on the outside too).

She retrieves, drops, sits, and lays down on command. She is a pro at walking on the leash. I am astounded when she self corrects, and slows down to be right between Matt and I when we’re out on walks!! It took our Viszla 2 years before he walked on a leash as well.

We take her on 2 hour hikes, to school, to soccer games, everywhere. She mixes well with other dogs and is absolutely confident and at ease in almost every situation. I think I would really like to go through the training to have her be a therapy dog. Maybe you can point me in the right direction.

She is SO darn CUTE, cars literally pull over to find out what breed she is. When I walk through downtown, my girlfriends joke about how many people stop to touch and chat about her. On one recent walk down NW 23rd street, we were trying to keep track (for fun) but gave up after 30 or so comments.

The kids LOVE her, and XXX my youngest has really enjoyed training her. He spends time everyday having her run through different drills of retrieving, dropping, laying down, etc. Tomorrow she will get her first haircut. YIKES! The hair on her head still looks perfect but her body is one big POOF. She has the coloring of a golden retriever…. but her roots are darker red so who knows what we’ll end up with.

She was at the vet getting her shots on 11/19 (14 weeks) and weighed 11 lbs. At that point she was exactly the same size as our cat… whom she loves! And I think our cat loves her too – because now he chooses to sleep in her crate at night! I don’t always let him stay because the cat is an early riser, but it is awfully cute to find him snuggled in there. Here are some pictures. You’re welcome to add them to your website.

Thank you again for such a WONDERFUL puppy. I tell everyone I meet that we found the BEST BREEDER EVER.

Hope all is well! Sounds like more puppies could be coming soon?!
