Start of Week Three.. exploring begins this week…

January 25, 2009

This week, we should see the puppies go from walking to a faster gait at the end of the week. Their ears are open and will start trying out their voices and need more room to exercise. Libby will be feeding them and their appetites really get going as they grow so very quickly. We supplement Libby with additional food, although this is a nice litter size. All three are very healthy and chubby and don’t lack for motherly attention. Libby is looking well.

This week we will make sure we are stocked up for supplies that will be needed in the next couple of weeks; including goats milk, venison ground, cooked and blended, puppy food, paper towels, our UGODOG litter training system, new mop head, laundry detergent, and pine sol. J We make sure we have puppy shampoo, puppy toys, teething toys ready as we move from little nesters to puppy explorers. We sterilize the puppy bowls and puppy toys with a bleach mixture followed by a boiling water rinse.

The next couple of weeks, you get more photos as they start doing more. The final weeks you get less, as they are busy moving, jumping, exploring, running. We usually are busy as well that final two weeks as we arrange their desexing, ponder flight carriers, and vet check planning.

As of this evening, they are all available. We do it differently, and have not “announced” the litter yet on the Australian Labradoodles puppy announcement sites, as we wait for their eyes to open, their first look over by our vet before we announce.

From top to bottom is Curtie, Bandit and Sunny. Enjoy!

Week Two in Review

January 24, 2009

I added the two week pictures on the puppy page of our web site, but as I prepare to add week three updates I thought I would add the two week pictures (below). As we go, the puppy web pages make room for more recent shots so this gives a good “journal” of their development.

They are growing very fast; week two saw their eyes open, and legs start working as they go from wobble to walking. J Chubby!! Libby is doing great and allows Auntie Belle to check out the puppies now. Everyone has their eyes open and each of course has a personality that is starting to really come out. Their coats are developing, ears are opening and they start making noises now, looking around wondering where did the noises come from?

They are born with a keen sense of smell and are handled frequently while in the dining room whelp box. Soon, they will outgrow the whelp box and move to the puppy pen…but, I am getting ahead of myself. Enjoy week two photos of Curtie, Bandit, and Sunny.

Week three photos will be taken this evening, when hubby is home to hold them so I can take the pictures. J

Wha Hoo!!! An Auzzie update!!

January 15, 2009

(the following is an Auzzie update email. I took some text out from the email and xxed out the names but thought you all would enjoy it…especially those of you that have puppies that are related to Auzzie. (Liberty’s Trust) LOVE the photo of Auzzie in the hand-chair! Thank you!)…

Dear Vicky and Jeff,

Happy New Year!  How are you?  I hope the holidays were a wonderful
time for you and your family.

I am so sorry for the delay in answering your last e-mail.  It has
been more than a bit chaotic around here getting settled in a new
area, the holidays, an active 10 year old and very playful 6 month old
puppy.  Auzzie is doing great!  He was having a hard time with some of
the vaccines so they were spaced out a bit.  He finished with
everything the last week of November.  When the vet called to
let us know everything went well, I asked what time we should come to
pick him up  – they said next February would be just fine – they love
him and said he was just too cute, lovable and easy to handle.  Kudos
to you!

Here’s another story about Auzzie (Liberty’s Trust) ….  We went to
visit my family for Thanksgiving but couldn’t take Auzzie with us.  We
didn’t want to kennel him as he had just had his last shots so he
stayed with friends of a very good friend (follow that one!) who
volunteered to keep him.  They are a retired couple who have had
Schnauzers but their last one passed away last year after a long
battle with diabetes and they feel they travel too much and it was too
painful to add another dog to their family.  Auzzie stayed with them
for a week.  They too didn’t want to give him back.  They said he is
the most loving, playful dog they have ever met.  They said he doesn’t
have a mean bone in his body and was a joy to have in the house.  They
would love to watch him again and meet for “Auzzie time”.  I am so
happy to have found you and Liberty Labradoodles!

At home we are dealing with the terrible twos… he has started
grabbing socks and xx’s stuffed animals and playing chase with
them as well as digging in the rose bushes for voles.  We tried puppy
class when he was three months old but he was very timid with other
dogs and it didn’t go well.  We start another class tonight.  He has
some basic commands but I think the class will be good for all of us.
He LOVES the dog park and follows all the big dogs.  His “best buddy”
there is a three year old Great Dane named Gus.  They play so well -
it’s hilarious.  Auzzie and xx’s guinea pigs have also bonded and
it’s so cute to watch them nuzzle noses through their cage.  We really
feel he could use another dog in the house to have a playmate but I
want to wait until he is fully trained and a bit older.  What do you
think about adding another dog?  Older?  Younger? Male? Female? and
when is a good time?

Attached are photos from Halloween and two weeks ago.  He is
definitely due for a haircut!  We are meeting with a groomer Friday.
We’ll send you a cute pic once he’s been trimmed and can see again!

All the best, we promise to write sooner next time.

regards,
Tracy xxxx

Chief of Liberty Labradoodles

January 12, 2009

Chief, this litter’s sire. He adds an amazing block to his babies, along with Libby’s block in a small frame should be fun…

He is also Liberty’s Echo of a Graceful Chief’s father (Kizer’s Grace the dam). They threw an amazing litter; so amazing I offered Echo to the Obama family but I have not heard. So, Echo is now making travel plans to head to the Netherlands.

As we prepare for her voyage we are proud to report that Echo is pra clear, prelim OFA good on hips, clear on elbow, clear on VwD, CERF clear, all shots, microchip and dna profiled.
